What Is Antibiotic

Antibiotics refer to a class of secondary metabolites produced by microorganisms (including bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes) or higher animals and plants in the course of life, which have anti pathogen or other activities and can interfere with the development of other living cells. Antibiotics commonly used in clinic include extracts from microbial cultures and chemical or semi synthetic compounds.

The bacteriostasis or bactericidal effect of antibiotics and other antibacterial agents is mainly aimed at killing the mechanism of "bacteria exist but people (or other animals and plants) do not have", including four major action mechanisms, namely, inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, enhancing bacterial cell membrane permeability, interfering with bacterial protein synthesis and inhibiting bacterial nucleic acid replication and transcription
