Delta-Valerolactone can be widely used in the manufacture process of Absorbable Surgical Suture and Poly-acrylate Polymer Dispersant.

Used to synthesize 2,3-dihydrofuran (raw material for Misoprostol and dinoprost)

Used to synthesize (+) Quebrachamine

Used to synthesize 2,4-bis-substituted pyran (2,3-d) pyrimidine (as germicide and herbicide)

Used together with Ethyl trifluoroacetate to synthesize Trifluoroacety-Delta-Valerolactone)

Easy for ring-opening polymerization, so widely used in pharmaceutical and liquid crystal.

Used together with other lactones （such as epsilon-caprolactone）to synthesize polylactides. Due to the polylactides` bio-degradability, good flexibility, transparency and other properties, the polylactides are used in wound management.
